Visual Arts Classes Summer 2018

 

General Art

Instructor: Dana Reed

Ages: 6-10 

Tuesdays: 12:00-1:00 pm

June: 5, 12, 19, 26 

July: 10, 17, 24, 31

August: 8  (9 Weeks)

(No class July 2-6)

This course will allow students to expand on the art concepts they are learning in school in a non-competitive environment. Students will experiment with a variety of different media and will learn concepts such as color theory, fine and gross motor control, and communication of artistic ideas in an easy-going environment that encourages artistic freedom.

Tuition: $120

Illustration

Instructor: Dana Reed

Ages: 11 & Up

Thursdays: 3:00-4:00 pm 

June: 7, 14, 21, 28

July: 12, 19, 26 

August: 2, 10 (9 Weeks) 

(No class July 2-6)

Experience assignments expected of art professions such as illustrators and concept artists. Projects will be based upon examples such as cover design, technical instructions, character design and the like and will be completed using the student’s preferred media. The students in this course will be able to experience art as a profession first-hand and will learn to use their creative skills while staying within specific parameters. Informal instruction of Fine Arts concepts will be given as needed.

Painting

Instructor: Dana Reed

Ages: 11 & Up                                      

Tuesdays: 10:00-11:00 am                            

June: 5, 12, 19, 26 

July: 10, 17, 24, 31                       

August: 8  (9 Weeks)

(No class July 2-6)

Students in this class will be working at an individualized pace to experiment with different techniques of painting. Each student will be encouraged to try at least two contrasting styles, in addition to painting via observation. Art historical references will be provided and students are encouraged to draw from outside sources as well as each other for information. This class will encourage students to work both individually and collaboratively in order to expand upon and improve their artistic voice and knowledge.
