Music Lessons and Classes
Do you have a budding vocalist? A rock star? A future pianist? Did you know that playing a musical instrument is very beneficial to children? So, why should your child participate in music lessons? For children, music provides many, many benefits and experts agree, there are a lot of good things about letting your child learn to play an instrument.
- Music boosts brain power by stimulating the parts of the brain that are related to reading, math, and emotional development.
- Not only will music give your child a mental advantage it will also help to improve their memory.
- Students who participate in music lessons are also more social, confident, and patient. To improve in music you have to devote time to practicing outside of lessons. This helps teach discipline.
- Above all, playing music is a creative pursuit that allows students an outlet for self-expression. Creativity is good for the mind, body and soul!
Richland Academy is excited to announce our Women’s Chorus, directed by Marianne Cooper!
Funding for this program has been provided by The Women’s Fund of the Richland County Foundation. Thanks to their support and generosity we are able to offer this exciting opportunity to women and girls in our community, free of charge.
If you are a female vocalist, at least 15 years old, and are passionate about singing, then this is the choir for you. This choir is designed to be a multi-generational chorus that is accessible to female vocalists and will allow students to grow both emotionally and socially through friendships and mentoring. It is our hope to foster and promote self-esteem and self-worth that allows students to grow physically, intellectually, culturally and musically through rehearsals and performances.
Whether you are an accomplished singer or someone seeking to develop and refine your vocal abilities, you will find a place in our choir.
The one-on-one private music lessons given at Richland Academy are given by specialized and credentialed teachers of the highest caliber in their various instruments. Private lessons ensure that the student is able to progress at his or her own pace and has the undivided attention of the teacher.
We offer private lessons in voice, piano, brass, woodwinds, strings, and percussion for students of all ages and all abilities.
Why Group Music Classes?
Why do kids get so immersed in their sport activities? It isn’t the individual activity that hooks them but rather the social environment. From the team to the coach and the games with the cheering fans - a cultural experience is created. Music is no different. It is one of the most social art forms and we strive to create an internal artistic community for students and their families to be a part of. We offer a variety of music classes for students ages 18 months to 80 years…so come join our community!
