Guitar/Bass Effects Building
Lee Klopfenstein, Instructor This class is designed for anyone grades 9 and up who would like to build their own stomp box and have a better understanding of how guitar and bass effects work. Studetns will first and foremost learn all safety precautions regarding building effects.
The class schedule follows:
Mon. - Safety instructions, explanation of componenets.
Tue. - How to read a schematic, amke the PCB and etch.
Wed. - Wire in components, test for sound.
Thur. - Drill holes for casing, label casing and clear coat.
Fri. - Drill holes for casing, label casing and clear coat.

MAKING THE BAND!!
This is an intensive two week camp and has limited spots. Theere will be four bands ( 5 students each-drum, bass, two guitars and vocalist). Studios will be available to practice from 9:00am-5:00pm along with your daily two hour session with Lee.Guitarists and bassists need to provide their own amps but the drumms will be provided. After the two week intensive camp there will be a performance. Each student will receive two free tickets and 10 tickets to sell at $4 students and $ adults, this is to build their fan base. There will be incentives for the band that draws the biggest crowd.
Ages: Grades 7-12 and Adults
Class schedule follows:
Week 1:
Mon. - Hand out CD's and lyric sheets, explain "room" analogy, start listening to all songs, start working out parts to first song.
Tue. - Explain the use of guitar and bass effetcs. Practice first song and start second song.
Wed. - Explain tone and dynamics. Practice second song, start third song.
Thur. - Practice third song, start fourth song. Playing to backing tracks.
Fri. - Practice fourth song, start fifth song. Improv playing.
Week 2:
Mon. - Practice fifth song, refresh first and second songs.
Tue. - Refresh third and fourth songs, possibly start a sixth song.
Wed. - Stage presence, work out trouble parts, possiby start a sixth song.
Thur. and Fri. - Full set rehearsal
Sat. - Concert!

Music Theory and Improvisation for Guitarists,
Lee Klopfenstain, Instructor
This class is designed for anyone grade 7 and up who plays guitar and wants to hone their skills in order to become a more knowledgeable musician. You do not need any prior instruction to sign up for this class as everything will be explained in great detail. Class will be 1 hour teaching and half-hour putting into practice what was taught. A CD play-along will spotlight individuals and help guide them through the process of putting together an improvised solo. In ideal situations each student (who is comfortable enough) will get a chance to "perform" at each class time.
Class schedule follows:
Mon. - Overview of class and balance between theory and creativity.
Tue. _ Standard major and minor scales, the numbering system, structure of chords.
Wed. - How numbers affect the structure of chords, Pentatonic sclae, placement of Pentatonic.
Thur. - Relative minor scale, allof the different modes.
Fri. - Dynamics and Phrases

Songwriting Classes with Jennifer Allen:
Introduction to Songwriting:
Musicians and poets will listen and learn by creating songs based on their own writings and discussions on structure, word choice, melodic line and chords. Musical experience is recommended, but not require. The final class willbe an informal public performance and discussion of new songs.
