SPRING SEMESTER 2020 POLICY & PERFORMANCE INFORMATION

We are grateful and deeply appreciative of our instructors who accepted the challenge to create “on-line” and multi-platform experiences for our students and the community. The time, effort and creative thinking is an indication of the excellent instructors available to you at the Academy.

No one has been sadder than faculty and staff about the loss of in person instructional time.

The Board of Directors and myself have determined the following consideration for any payment since March 16 through May 25:

The Board has adopted the RAA C-19 Financial Policy :

Payments are due for classes through the 2nd week of March. No payments are due for the 2 weeks of March and April. In an event such as the Covid 19 pandemic, customers will be given a choice of

(1) donation of paid tuition unused to RAA,

(2) credit of any unused funds toward future RAA classes or

(3) refund of unused funds within a 30 day period.

We all understand that this has been a difficult time for everyone including non-profit arts organizations. All private instruction will continue to be paid for all lessons prior to taking.

RECITALS; dance and music

Every attempt is being made to create something in celebration of both our dance and music students. The limitation of group size remains the problem, but we are still working on it! Thank you for understanding.

Sincerely,

Richland Academy Board of Directors

Marianne Cooper, Executive Director

Richland Academy Students, Families and Friends- Something to Look Forward To:

Students and staff, we know – boy, do we know! – how long and how hard our students had been working on their amazing projects in music, dance, theatre, visual arts and kenpo until the closure.

As soon as we have permission, the Academy will reopen and finish spring classes . . . AND we will be holding all spring performances in our building! We’re not exactly sure what those performances will look like, but rest assured that we are brainstorming (from 6 feet apart! and on-line) about all sorts of possibilities.

We had originally set April 6th as the day registration would begin for summer classes, but we clearly need to suspend that until we have a better idea of what the summer will look like for all of us. Governor DeWine and Dr. Acton have been very clear about what Ohioans need to do to help flatten the curve, and we’re prioritizing your health and safety with every decision we make. We’re excited to get back to making art as soon we can, so we’ll keep you updated regularly.

UPDATED 3/12/20

Dear Richland Academy Friends,

The health and safety of Richland Academy of the Arts students, families, staff and faculty is our highest priority. As the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) continues to spread throughout the country and specifically here to Ohio, I wanted to take a moment and share that Richland Academy is making every effort to gather information as it becomes available in order to make the best decision for our RAA students and community.

We are closely monitoring updates from the CDC. We are also heeding the advice of local health officials around Ohio as this situation evolves. We will continue to rely on their recommendations and expertise to inform our decisions.

The Richland Academy staff is working extensively on internal health and safety protocols, for use at this time and moving forward, should we ever face other similar circumstances.

Based on the guidance we’ve received and the actions we’ve taken, Richland Academy remains open for business. Updates to this status will always be available on our website www.richlandacademy.com, on our Facebook page and through email.

  • As a result, we are increasing the frequency and rigor of cleaning in our building and implementing students’ parents and class instructors to assist in sanitizing any equipment used. There is hand-sanitizer available throughout our facility and Clorox (alcohol) wipes are also readily available.
  • At this time, we are applying relaxed rescheduling terms for all classes, events, and activities to provide our RAA family greater flexibility in making decisions that are best for them, without incurring financial penalties. Instructors are encouraged to keep an eye on their students and pull students aside if they are showing signs of respiratory illness. We will actively ask people to reschedule if they are ill and will make sure our instructors are monitoring their own health.
  • Facility renters are urged to stay home if feeling sick. The rental policy has been liberalized so the fees for last-minute cancellations of rental time have been waived.
  • In our instructional areas, we’re doing all we can to make sure all of our guests feel safe, comfortable and welcome. We will continue sterilizing equipment that people touch.
  • Employees, part- or full-time, are encouraged not to come to work if they don't feel well. While not all members of staff receive paid time-off, we will make sure to fairly support the needs of our staff if they cannot work.

All of us here at Richland Academy appreciate that this issue is of great concern to many people in our neighborhood, city, state and the greater arts community. Our thoughts are with those who have already been affected. Please know that as news of this outbreak continues to develop, one thing will remain the same: We will make our decisions with the health and well-being of our students, staff, and RAA community as our highest priority. We appreciate your continued support and interest.

Best wishes,

Marianne Cooper
