Modern Arnis is a Filipino based martial art, combining both western and eastern style martial arts. Filipino martial arts (FMA) heavily emphasize a weapon based system. The Modern Arnis curriculum centers around usage of the escrima (the stick), the arnis (the knife), as well as empty hand fighting skills. During this course you will learn topics such as Boxing, Striking, Trapping, Blocking, Defending, Disarming, etc. You will learn disarming techniques both for when wielding the escrima as well as being unarmed. FMA partner-based drills incorporate fighting techniques using 1 or 2 escrimas.
