Voice, Piano, Music for Little Mozarts
Rachel is a soprano from Ohio Wesleyan University, with a double major in Vocal Performance and Piano Performance. She received her Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance in May 2018, studying with Dr. Gulimina Mahamuti, and will complete her B.M. in Vocal Performance in December 2018 under the instruction of Dr. Jason Hiester. Currently, Rachel is teaching and performing in the Mid-Ohio area. Vocal Career: In select scenes with OWU's Opera Theater, she was seen as Magda in The Consul, Miss Pinkerton in Old Maid and the Thief, Amy in Company, Audrey in Little Shop of Horrors, Dorabella in Cosi fan Tutte, The Third Lady in Die Zauberflote, and a featured singer in Red, Hot, and Cole. Most recently, she performed the role of Ms. Bigbad in Little Red's Most Unusual Day with Opera Columbus' Education Outreach Program. She won the Encouragement Award for Opera Columbus' Cooper-Bing Vocal Competition (2018), 2nd place in the Ohio NATS Vocal Competition Third Year Women's Division (2017), 3rd place in the Ohio NATS Vocal Competition First Year Women's Division (2016), and 3rd place in the New Albany Symphony Concerto Competition (2018). Rachel has choral experience with Opera Columbus in La Boheme and Carmen, as well as being a vocal soloist in Columbus Dance Theater's The Little Matchgirl. In 2017, Rachel was a student at The Mozarteum International Summer Academy in Salzburg, Austria and a Young Artist at SongFest in LA. Piano Career: Rachel has performed at various master classes including: the 2013 OhioMTA State Conference Pre-College Piano Master Class, and at the piano master classes at Ohio Wesleyan University given by the Cleveland International Piano Competition winner, Alexander Shimpf, by Oberlin’s Peter Takács, by Akron's Philip G. Thomson, and by the China Conservatory of Music in Beijing piano professor, Guan Changxin. She has done solo recitals at OWU along with collaborative work, such as, piano accompanying, 1 piano 6 hands, duos, and duets.
