Martial Arts & Kenpo - Spring 2021
Spring 2021 Kenpo Offerings
American Kenpo Karate is considered one of the most comprehensive martial arts systems in the world today. It is practical, realistic, and can readily be applied in our society today. Mr. Parker's kenpo system encompasses logical principles, and concepts along with kinetic science to create a means of self defense. Mr. Parker had over four decades of experience and contributed much to the martial arts community as a whole. These classes will be instructed by Jason Farnsworth, who has over 20 years of experience with training and teaching Kenpo classes.

Kenpo for Beginners - New Students
Beginner classes are geared towards children with little to no experience. We focus on basics: blocks, strikes, punches, kicks, stances, foot maneuvers, basic finger techniques, as well as Kenpo sets and forms. These skills are designed to build a solid foundation for students as they move into advanced training in higher levels. Additionally, children will improve their self-confidence by doing drills designed to help increase focus, power, speed, and overall abilities. We will also learn sparring tactics and strategies while continuously reinforcing that Karate is used to self-defense only.

Kenpo for Adults
The adult classes are designed for students from beginner to advanced level martial arts. Beginner adults will learn basic skills, while intermediate and advanced students will begin to work on more sophisticated techniques. All students will learn techniques in self-defense and weapons training. Adults will do drills designed to increase accuracy, power, speed, balance, focus, and confidence. Our primary focus is on the striking aspects of Kenpo while learning how to defend yourself against the average attacker to the more sophisticated fighter.
The more advanced student will learn sparring techniques, strategies, and combinations while utilizing offensive and defensive grafting skills. At this point in training, the student will begin to learn more refined sets and forms of Kenpo such as blocking, kicking, finger techniques, coordination, stances, striking and punching combinations, and weapons. More in-depth self-defense techniques against weapons or multiple attackers will continue to be taught.
