Executive Director of the Arts

Spherion Mid Ohio in partnership with the Richland Academy of the Arts is seeking an Executive Director to join their team. Richland Academy of the Arts (RAA) is in Mansfield, Ohio and was founded in 1991 as a non‐profit organization committed to the mission of being an education center with a focus on the arts. This is a unique opportunity for the right person to make a significant contribution to the growth of this important and respected organization.

Full time position of Executive Director, with overall administrative responsibility including effectively and appropriately managing professional teaching staff, fundraising, marketing, public relations and general management. Reports to the Board of Directors. Nontraditional work hours including some weekends and evenings.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and direct the organizational and operational management of the organization. Directly supervise and assess the senior staff and other administrative support.
  • Maintain a highly visible presence in the community while promoting an atmosphere of open communication and stakeholder engagement.
  • Prepare and analyze short term and long‐term budgets.
  • Be resourceful, driven by practical results and by return on investment of time, talent, energy and resources.
  • Be receptive to new ideas and opportunities for learning and growth.
  • Identify and develop strategies and collaborate with local, regional and national organizations to bolster and broaden the reach and visibility of the organization.
  • Identify ways to increase contributions and earned income.
  • Identify and craft grant proposals for various foundations and organizations and ensure that rewarded grants are used according to their terms and conditions.
  • Actively seek out and initiate contacts with potential donors and develop, cultivate and maintain relationships to advance the organizations mission.
  • Serve as primary spokesperson to the media and community.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with the political and social leaders of the community.

Qualifications

  • The position requires an established record of successful management in the performing arts, arts organization or similar, with demonstrated results in achieving successful fundraising and institutional advancement efforts.
  • Candidates must have experience planning, designing, and implementing effective marketing and fundraising efforts to support programming. A demonstrated track record working with a Board of Directors to generate financial support, cultivate community relationships and appropriately govern the organization is necessary.
  •  Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. Emphasis in business, arts or other related field preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and computer literacy. Exemplary interpersonal skills, including the ability to work well with others. Non‐Profit experience preferable in dance and arts.
  • Background in Charter Schools preferred but not required.
  • Enthusiasm, creativity and strategic thinking to develop and expand opportunities and support for the organization.
  • At least 3 years full time paid working experience in nonprofit management, arts education, fundraising and community engagement preferred.

Compensation
Salary range $50,000 to $70,000 per year with potential for performance/revenue bonus.

Visual Arts Instructor

Richland Academy is looking for a visual arts instructor to teach private lessons and/or group classes in visual arts.  Outreach programming and other collaborations may be available, as well as opportunities to expand and develop new programming.

Private Violin Instructor

Candidates must have the ability to instruct and play the instrument or instruments he or she teaches. Student Recitals and other formal or informal performance opportunities are available.  Outreach programming and other collaborations may be available, as well as opportunities to expand and develop new programming.
