Bone-a-fide Swing, Las Vegas style band consisting of five trombones, a rhythm section, and a girl singer, will appear at the Richland Academy of the Arts on Friday, February 22, 2019 at 7:00 pm. Originally led by the late trombonist Gary McKaig, Bone-a-fide Swing has been a Columbus favorite for many years playing beautiful jazz standards and original compositions that can only be best presented by five trombones. Tickets are on sale at the Richland Academy for $15 for adults, $10 for students, veterans, and seniors.
Now led by trombonist Bill England, the band also consists of trombonists John Hall, Matt Ellis, Jeff Banyotts, and Ryan Hamilton. The rhythm section includes bassist Paul Martin, pianist Jon Eshelman, and drummer Steve Scharr. This concert will feature the vocal stylizations of the magnificent Kelly McLennan. The band will present special arrangements written or the band by Herb Harrison, Paul Martin, Clint Morse, and more.
This performance is part of Richland Academy’s Majestic Theatre Jazz Concert series that is supported by The Gimbel Foundation, Discovery Dental-Marissa Miller, DDS, Kent Gimbel, John & Dana Sherburne, and The Spreng Smith Agency.
